WYOMING, MONTANA, AND UTAH
Near Casper, Wyoming, the section of the North Platte
River below Grey Reef Dam is one of the lower 48’s most
productive rainbow fisheries with the occasional giant
brown available. The North Platte Lodge has special
access rights for much of this section of river and their
guides are the only ones that can wade or anchor a drift
boat. All things considered, The North Platte Lodge
operates a value-oriented, quality, Western fly fishing
experience. They also offer a productive bird hunting
adventure in the fall and can combine both into a “cast
and blast” trip.
We’ve been holding space each year for an early April week and also an early September week with occasional space open in the late fall. This is one of the West’s top early and late season fisheries.Montana offers a variety of different possibilities. The Smith River float trip has been a very popular option for many years and usually sells out very early. There are top-notch lodge experiences like Five Rivers Lodge and several independent outfitters that can customize a Montana experience to meet virtually any objective.
In Utah, a quality, value experience is produced by a stay at Falcon’s Ledge which has a unique approach of allowing a non-fishing spouse stay free. Located two hours east of Salt Lake City at 6,500 feet, Falcon’s Ledge is also a good spot for beginning fly fishers with a price that includes all equipment including waders and boots.
